OLYMPIANS TO PLAY 36 GAMES IN SINGAPORE THIS SEASON
Indianapolis, IN - The American Basketball Association announced that it has signed an agreement with the Beijing Aoshen Olympian to play 36 regular league games in Singapore this season.
According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We are very pleased and proud to be associated in this way with this famous organization. The Beijing Aoshen Olympians have been a mainstay of the ABA for the last two seasons in their home base of Los Angeles. Now fans in Singapore will have an opportunity to see the games in live action there. 18 ABA teams from the US and Canada have been invited to participate in this series. All of the games will count in the ABA standings.
"This is an historic event for the people of China and Singapore. To have these outstanding ABA teams coming to Singapore to complete against our team is extraordinary," stated Xing Dai, spokesperson for the Aoshen Beijing Olympian. "In the past two seasons, we have shown how competitive we are with winning records and reaching the playoffs both seasons. Our fifteen year agreement with the ABA authorizes Aoshen to be the only club and representative for the ABA to host, operate and conduct ABA games in Mainland China, including the regions of Macao, Hong Kong and Singapore."
"Hopefully we can televise the Singapore games back to the US and Canada and other countries so that fans worldwide can enjoy this exciting series," added Newman. "There's no doubt in our minds that Beijing Aoshen Olympians will be competing for the ABA Championship this season. They have a wonderful organization and an excellent team."
Exact details of the visiting teams and media plans will be released shortly.
