Huang Haibei’s great training trip in USA
Huang Haibei finished up the 2 months training in US and returned to Beijing. When talking about this trip, Haibei talked about that he observed new techniques toward US basketball. Not only to improve self’s skill, but the fast path game also impressed him.
He also talked about that this opportunity he had this time is based on what the team gave him. After the invitation from Sacramento Kings, Huang Haibei presented the Kings to join the Summer League. Even the playing time was not as much, he learned a lot and was approved by head coach Eric Musselman and team mates. After the Summer League with Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas, Huang Haibei went to Los Angeles and joined the Summer League in Long Beach. The team he joined is agent’s team, which he played with minor league players, such as NBDL, CBA, or ABA. The courtside had many scouts from NBA or other leagues. Because the opportunity to play in Summer League is the opportunity to present themselves, everyone would play with their best, for the chance to get a contract. Therefore the competition is tougher than thought. Haibei had more opportunity to show his ability in this tougher competition. He said that after the series, his offense skill got a dramatic improvement. The last stop for the training trip is Pete Newell’s Big Man Camp hold in Las Vegas. In this special camp for big man, Huang Haibei had a great performance; He presented a great level of skills, timing, foot steps and several others. Hall of fame coach Pete Newell was impressive about his performance.
In this US trip, Haibei realized not only the skill is important, but inherent is important too; More team work, combine with daily training and understand the game. Those are the keys to become a better player. At the same time, Haibei is expecting a more explosive coming season to present to the fans. Besides, Haibei is aiming for the 2008 Olympic in Beijing, the goal that he always wants to achieve.
